Baynanza 2014

(MIAMI, March 11, 2014) – Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources – Division of Environmental Resources Management (RER-DERM) and Biscayne National Park will celebrate the official opening of Baynanza 2014 during a full-moon reception for the exhibit “Biscayne Bay’s Wild Western Shoreline” featuring photographs taken from a canoe by local artist Constance Mier.  This free event will take place at the Biscayne National Park Dante Fascell Visitor Center located at 9700 SW 328 Street, 9 miles east of Homestead, on Sunday, March 16th from 6pm to 8pm. Enjoy beautiful art, the rise of the full moon (cloud cover permitting) and a wine-and-cheese reception overlooking the water as we gather to commemorate the official kick-off of Miami-Dade County’s Baynanza 2014. There will be a chance to meet and greet the artist. Mier’s stunning photography collection is available at http://constancemierphotography.com/index.html.

Baynanza is Miami-Dade’s way of celebrating one of our most precious natural resources, Biscayne Bay, and inviting the community to learn how to protect it while having a great time.  The annual Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day is just one of the many environmental activities that make up Baynanza, and this year we are kicking off Baynanza in partnership with Biscayne National Park at the park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center on March 16th.  There are over 30 fun-filled activities that are part of this year’s Baynanza, which runs from March 16th through April 27th.  For a complete list of Baynanza 2014 events, please visit us at www.miamidade.gov/environment or call 305-372-6784.
